It's a Good Versus Evil Thing...
3/23/08

Last week I spoke about the race for the Presidency but in reality, keeping the whole thing in perspective, I am really talking about the fight of taking the High Road versus Riding the High Horse: Good versus Evil.

Of course much like everything else, my words will be surely taken out of context, misconstrued and flipped into something bad instead of taken for the moment intended, the point to make.  THAT is the truth about sound-bites and our YOU TUBE video Internet driven society today.  We are all quick to take things at Face Value instead of delving into the intricacies of the TRUTH.

Which begs the question: "Does the truth matter?"

This morning on BET I awoke to a sermon by the now much maligned Dr. Reverand Jeramiah Wright and certainly true enough, he said some damning things about our US government's failure to respond to aid the Black people in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit.  However taken in the context of his sermon, they were appropriate because he was making a comparison between the stories in the Bible THEN and life in these United States NOW.

Contextually speaking he was correct even if most of the people in these states want to remain blind to the facts of today pretending that All Is Well.

It's not so much that I agree with the examples he chose to make because I would have made different ones for sure, it simply really goes to my point of, "What difference does it make if I do or don't agree with his sermon because the truth is the truth?"

Well letting the truth be told, it might actually matter literally because people shape their judgements by those around them that they listen to and just listening to sound-bites without the whole story is prejudicial in itself.

I remember while in both high school and college reading the Cliff's Notes of varied assignments.  Truth be told I was too lazy to read the whole books or too busy with other less important things because of poor priorities.  I often missed the points made in the books I never read, instead only understanding the note-taker's point of view.  That's what Greta Van Susteran abd Bill O'Reilly are... THEY and pundits like them are the Cliff's Notes of the Internet-driven media.  Glorifying them is taking the wrong road, getting the wrong message.

Today is Easter and most of US claim we are Christians and that we LOVE Jesus yet WE persecute and prosecute people for things that we ourselves are constantly guilty of everyday.  WE run to church, especially on EASTER forgetting and worse yet, unaware as to WHY we should be going and invoking the Lord's name in the first place.  It's not about dressing up, eggs or seeing your family.  WE all miss the point of it all and that is proven with the diatribe and rhetoric of the day... everyday.

I am so disappointed in so many factions of this society as a whole and in parts but... at least WE talk a good game while we drop our bombs, right?  Wright?

This is not a game of Jeramiah Wright versus White America.  This is not even a game of Obama versus the Clintons.  No.  The game is Jesus versus the Devil.

Whose side are you on?  The line is drawn in the dirt and it's almost time to step.

Praise The Lord.
