My old best friend (3rd in life behind sandbox pals Boo King and Rono Kirk) came to Austin
to open a law office and give a seminar. His name is William (Bill) Kirk Jr. and he used to be our next door
neighbor on Astor Place. His parents and my parents were/are great friends.
We met for breakfast and reminisced about old times and people we both knew/know. I was
happy to talk to him and it made me continue to appreciate the quality of the good people that know ME.
We started talking about Janice Fuller, Waymon Clark and of course Tommy Ezell who told
me that he changed his name to Anthony Colbert when he decided he wanted to be a film producer. Maybe living in California
makes people not want to be themselves so they change their names or something... I dunno.
I never wanted to live anywhere else but Texas.
Then I asked him had he kept in contact with Johnny Robinson. Truthfully I remember Johnny
saying his brother had a late 60's or early 70's Pontiac Grand Prix and that was about the time I started paying attention
to Grand Prix cars as a whole. Anyway Bill said "No" that he had lost track.
Just thinking about all my old Reagan High School friends from back in the day and a few who aren't around anymore too brings a smile to my face. Those were some good times.
Being that I like to "find" people and hone my old investigative skills on the computer, I
had to look. Guess what? I found Johnny and called him. He moved from Austin to Portland, OR to across the
river in Vancouver, WA now. He is a married with children multi-stater and I just envisioned Al Bundy. LOL.
Of course I gave that information to Bill and later Dan Napier who is a bigshot MGM Grand Las
Vegas guy we know but that's a whole another story. Funny thing is Johnny and I have the same exact DOB and
I never remembered that.
I really must be getting old...
